Random Rant - Bron Bron Takes The Heat

Okay...so let me start off by saying this...I am NOT a Miami Heat fan. Will I enjoy their games this next season? Yes. If you love basketball, you will love watching them play. 3 young, super talented players all on the same team together is going to bring a LOT of great highlights. Fast break heaven. Now...I understand that a lot of people, including Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley (who always has something to say about everything), are looking down at LeBron James for his decision, but come on...are we going for fantasy or reality? I'm going to break down WHY he made this decision into 2 answers...

1. Filling Jordan's shoes - Ever since LeBron James entered the NBA, wearing the 23 jersey, people have been comparing him to Michael Jordan. The insane jumping ability, the highlight-worthy dunks, taking command of his less-than-stellar teammates, his MVP nods...he could never escape it. Even when it came down to making his decision, the Chicago Bulls mailed LeBron a pair of Jordan 1s, trying to persuade him to come to the team and implying him "filling Jordan's shoes". Mind you, realistically speaking, he'd forever be stuck in Jordan's shadow in Chicago. Now...all of this is to say...WHEN DID LEBRON SAY HE WANTED TO HAVE JORDAN'S LEGACY? LeBron said it before...he just wants to win. Rings, rings, rings. He's basically to basketball what new rappers are to hip-hop in 2010. It is what it is.

2. Leaving Cleveland - Come on now...who REALLY thought he was going to stay in Cleveland? Let's be real...he had no supporting cast to get him to a ring. People talk about LA and say "Kobe, Kobe, Kobe", but Kobe has all of these rings because he has other players on the team to aid him. Derek Fisher, Ron Artest, Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom...these players are all talented, experienced vets. Kobe may be the star of the team, but with a supporting cast like that, it's much easier to shine and get those rings. Even back in the day, the Shaq/Kobe/Fisher combo was too strong for most teams. LeBron James had Delonte West (when he's actually allowed to play, due to legal issues)...that's it. Sometimes Mo Williams shows up to play. LeBron finally realized that he can't do it alone...it was time to go. Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade will provide a hell of a supporting cast for that ring. A lot of people are like "oh no, he's leaving his hometown". How many NBA legends are really playing in their hometown their whole career? Kobe's from Philly, playing for the Lakers. Jordan's from North Carolina, built his legacy in Chicago. LeBron may have started all of this in his hometown, but fuck it...you can't sacrifice wins for hometown pride your whole career. The contract was up...business decisions were made.

So yeah...this is just me speaking as a realist on why LeBron made his decision. This all affects me none...I'm a Wizards fan. I just got tired of the bitching I kept seeing and hearing. Peace.
