I couldn't think of 5...but here's 4 lol.
All young MCs making their mark.
These were my decisions.

1. J. Cole (http://www.myspace.com/therapistmusic)
There's no denying this dude's talent...lyrical, conceptual, and co-signed by Jay-Z himself. All of the "South can't rap" rumors are dispelled by this lyricist from Fayetteville, NC. Keep an eye and both ears open for dude.

2. Wale (http://www.myspace.com/wale)
Being from DC, I might catch a lot of hate for even PUTTING dude on my list, but face it...he's destined for success. Endorsements from almost anyone you can think of. Critically-acclaimed and fan-anticipated mixtapes. Respect and co-signs from the pop world to the hip-hop legends. Plus, dude is talented. '09 is nowhere near the end of the road for him.

3. Theo (http://www.myspace.com/imjusttheo)
Who even knew there was rappers in Rhode Island? I didn't before 2008. But this dude attacked the blogs (and even blessed me with a verse for my "The Day job" mixtape) and gained respect, not only for him, but his home state. He's been quiet in recent months, but I believe that's what you call "the calm before the storm".

4. Drake (http://www.myspace.com/thisisdrake)
As much as I dislike Lil' Wayne and Young Money/Cash Money, I do see one ray of hope (since Curren$y left 2 years ago), and that artist's name is Drake. Very creative. He can rap and sing, making both look and sound easy. Crazy metaphors, song structure...dude has the music down to a science. My only issue with him is that he's clearly from Canada, yet he insists on dragging and drawling his words like Lil' Wayne does. He didn't do it in the past, and I definitely feel like he shouldn't do it now...keep your identity, man!
